PRIDES AND MARDI GRAS
All over the country each summer a number of Pride events take place. Since the summer of 1972, when the first was held in London and just 700 people marched through London, thousands of people have taken the opportunity to celebrate LGBT life in all its diversity.
HALT was at Oxford Pride this year to tell people about their work and encourage people to report homophobic/biphobic and transphobic incidents. We also carried out our annual survey to better understand the issues facing LGBT people when they use local services.

Local and national pride events planned for 2010....
Swindon and Wiltshire Pride - 14 August, Old Town Gardens in Swindon (for more information, please visit www.swindonpride.com).
Reading Pride - 4 September, Kings Meadow Park in Reading (for more information, please visit www.readingpride.co.uk).

IDAHO
17 May marked International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia - for 2010, HALT partners like Thames Valley Police ran awareness raising initiatives. The partnership itself used a regional LGBT publication to get the message out to people about the need to report incidents and the support available to them via HALT. For more information about IDAHO, visit www.dayagainsthomophobia.org.
