HALT was at Oxford Pride June 2011 to tell people about our work and encourage people to report homophobic, biphobic and transphobic incidents. We also carried out our annual survey to better understand the issues facing LGBT people when they use local services:

Summary of this year's results
·   Encouraging trends with a smaller percentage of people experiencing homophobic abuse, an increase in the number of people reporting, confidence in accessing public services, and the belief that the police take homophobic crime more seriously than in the 1990’s.
·   Areas of concern include an under reporting of verbal abuse, a need for work in schools and a decrease in awareness of HALT.

Action we will aim to take to address the areas of concern
·   Promote the reporting of verbal abuse through increasing outreach work.
·   Promote the teaching in schools of subjects surrounding LGBT life.
·   Increase awareness of HALT through increasing publicity and attendance at relevant events and outreach work.
